An interactive museum in a historic granary: knots, virtual regattas and Masurian nature. Approx. 23 km, open all year.
Memuak — a museum where you can touch everything
Memuak — the Museum of Sailing and Ecology — is a pair of interactive exhibitions in a historic granary in Sztynort, about 23 km from Ostoja Dwa Jeziora near Węgorzewo. Here you can learn to tie knots, take part in virtual regattas and discover the nature of Masuria through experiments. Open all year round, indoors — for families and sailors.
The historic granary of the former palace estate in Sztynort houses two modern, interactive exhibitions. This is a museum where nobody says “do not touch” — quite the opposite.
In the environmental section you will get to know the nature of the Great Masurian Lakes hands-on: you will find out how long chewing gum takes to decompose, try to imitate the bellow of an elk and “fish out” objects from the bottom of a lake. In the sailing section you will learn to tie knots and take part in virtual regattas.
It is a great plan for a rainy day and a good stop after a walk around Sztynort and the marina. There is a café on site.
