Skiing in Masuria? Yes, it's possible!
About 50 km from our resort is the largest winter sports center in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. In the 70s and 80s it was called the Zakopane of the North. Its proper name is Mount Gołdapska (272 m above sea level). However, locals, because of the beautiful view from its summit of the surroundings of Gołdap and Garb, called it the Beautiful Mountain. In winter, Beautiful Mountain is a paradise for skiers.
There are five slopes on its sides with a total length of 2,000 m, all artificially snowed and groomed by snowcats, and four of them artificially lit. The most difficult slope is 650 m long, with an average incline angle of 45 degrees. Beginners are recommended the 350-meter slope, which is not too steep.
On the mountain, there is the only northeast Poland chairlift cable car operating all year round, with a length of 763 m. Its first section starts right at the inn at the foot of the mountain and leads to the summit, from where we have an unforgettable view of the Szeskie Hills. The second section leads to the summit of the nearby Castle Mountain. There are also T-bar and rope tow lifts. Ski equipment can be rented here, and the owner of the recreational center invites guests for sleigh rides with torches and bonfires.
In the vicinity of Beautiful Mountain, cross-country skiing can also be practiced (4 km of trails, some very difficult).
